Eagle Mountain Lake is an 8,738 acre reservoir located north of Fort Worth Texas in Tarrant County on the West Fork of the Trinity River. Eagle Mountain Lake is bordered by several north Texas cities including Fort Worth, Azle, Newark and Boyd.
The lake was impounded in 1932 and is controlled by the Tarrant Regional Water District as the lake serves as the water supply for the city of Fort Worth as well as the other cities in Tarrant County. Several other lakes are controlled and managed by the Tarrant Regional Water District including Lake Worth, Benbrook, Cedar Creek Lake and Richland Chambers Reservoir.
The lake has a maximum depth of 47 feet and water levels can fluctuate as much as 10 feet during times of limited rainfall and high water usage by Tarrant county residents. Water released flows down the Trinity River into Lake Worth, just a few miles south.
